Zucht and Sportpferde Schmidt

The end of 2010 saw the formation of a new partnership between myself and Family Elmerhaus. Not only did I gain the rides of their super stallions Furst Grandios and Blickpunkt but I also relocated my international dressage stables to their stables in Lippetal-Lippborg. Zucht and Sport Pferde Schmidt is the home of super star breeding stallion Belissimo M.

Family Elmerhaus is a family oriented business and boasts an international standard breeding station, modest training facilities and world class care and management of young horses, breeding horses, sports horses and stallions. Our businesses compliment one another with the Elmerhaus stallions coming into the international sports arena.

Zucht- and Sportpferde Schmidt comprises of 3 parts. These are:

1. The Stallion Station - where we collect semen from our stallions and prepare it for transport either chilled or frozen;
2. Our Training Stable - where we train our stallions and our young horses that show potential to come to the sport; and
3. Sales and Marketing - where we present our horses for sale or display our stallions so that people can better see their quality.

The stud itself was built in 1996 as an addition to the family property. Originally it consisted of a 20m x 40m indoor arena, a 20m x 60m outdoor arena and an adjoining stable of 20 boxes. Since then we have added a separate stable of 20 boxes, a machine and storage hall as well as additional stabling for the young horses.

Recently we have also included a walking machine and lunging hall to better train and exercise our horses as well as a viewing area for the outdoor arena.

Breeding

At Zucht- und Sportpferde Schmidt we also have an extensive breeding program. Each year up to 15 new foals are born on our property with many of them growing up in the fields behind the stables. Here they get the chance to be horses and socialize before they have to go off to school and become a sport horse. We are very proud of our breeding program and offer the chance to purchase some of our foals in the Horse Market.

Young Horses

The foals that we keep go on to be broken in and ridden as part of our training program. We have a number of young horse riders that are able to produce an athletic and well mannered young horse. The stallions amongst the horses will be prepared for their certifications and sent away to conduct their 30 and 90 days tests.

Through all stages of the breeding and training program we offer the opportunity to purchase the horses. Everyone is welcome to visit our stables to view the horses or you can visit our Horse Market online here. We also conduct a Stallion Show each February in Munster, Germany where people can see the horses ridden by our riders.
